Title: Potential Date: 1998 Dimensions: 180x700 cm span appox Location: Hills Road Sixth Form College, Cambridge UK Description: A celebratory commission for the new Art and Design Centre. The sculpture aims to leap through the stairwell creating a visual tension and variety for regular uses of the space. Fabricated from light weight aluminium and translucent and opaque fabrics the structure responds to the characteristics of the space. Project details- Funded by: Arts 4 Everyone Lottery award and Mackays of Cambridge Organised by: Zoë Chamberlain and Ted Coney Architect: RH Partnership Architects Project Background: Designed and constructed in collaboration with a group of GNVQ students from the college. I introduced the students to the considerations of working site specifically as well as helping them push the perceptions about working sculpturally with fabric based media. |
